FAQ's

What is District?

District uses the joy of discovery and uncovering hidden experiences throughout your own city to motivate active living at any level.

District brings cities to life with different series of checkpoints and challenges spread across many neighbourhoods in the city. The aim of the game is to collect as many points, badges and rewards as possible within the time limit. There's no set route or distance, so plan and create your own strategy based on your strengths. We're sure that you will go further than you ever thought possible.

How do I get started?

Download the District app from the App Store or from Google Play, register an account and you’re ready to go.

Select a District near you that suits your goals. You can’t hit all the checkpoints in the time limit, so make sure you plan carefully! Hit start, and you’re off.

Can anyone take part in the District Race?

Yes, District has something for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re a hardcore runner or just starting out on your fitness journey. We don’t pretend to be on the hunt for the next Usain Bolt. Get a bunch of friends together, fuel each other’s curiosity and explore your city like never before.

Is it free?

You can download the District App and explore your City today, completely free of charge. However, the District Urban Races are ticketed events. Please see the respective event page for pricing details

Are there different types of checkpoints, and how do i collect these?

Points are awarded for successfully navigating to a checkpoint, which your app will detect via GPS technology. You will receive points for reaching the checkpoint. Additional points are up for grabs at specific checkpoints when you complete the task, these are split into 3 categories:

1. Timetrial - A checkpoint where explorers must get from point A to point B in the shortest time possible. The faster the Time Trial is completed, the more points are earned.when you conquer a challenge.

2. Discovery - A checkpoint where explorers must correctly answer a question, the answer of which can be found in the immediate vicinity. Can take the form of a multiple choice quiz or typing in a number or word to be found.

3. Scan - A checkpoint where explorers must find and scan a part of the existing city infrastructure (a graffiti wall, city sign, shop front) to collect the points.

Make sure you preview the District, decide which checkpoints you want to collect, and play to your strengths.
