How long does District Race Malaysia by AIA Vitality run for?

The District Race Malaysia by AIA Vitality campaign will be launching on 18th October, and run until 7th November 2021. There will be amazing prizes up for grabs during this time.

What safety measures should I be aware of?

Be sure to observe traffic safety laws when completing your run. Practice safe social distancing as well as adhere to the Government's guidelines on its latest Movement Control Order (MCO) SOPs.

What do I need to participate in District Race Malaysia by AIA Vitality?

Ensure you have a smartphone with the latest version of the District app. Make sure your battery is fully charged. Ensure your phone is NOT in low power mode. Ensure your GPS / location is turned on.

Water and a phone case are recommended.

Do I have to participate in District Race on foot?

Yes - District is all about exploring on foot. You can walk, jog or run - but no using wheels or other devices. This includes but is not limited to bicycles, scooters, skateboards, cars, trains, etc.

Anyone assumed to be cheating or gaining an unfair advantage in any way will be disqualified from the event and removed from winning any prizes.

How do I score points in District Race Malaysia by AIA Vitality?

There are 3 methods to score points:

  1. Run challenges: Take part in one of 48 run challenges across the country
  2. Explore Mode: Simply press start in the app, and collect checkpoints near you. You will receive points for any checkpoints collected, as well as distance covered during your activity.
  3. Just Run: Don't want to collect checkpoints? No problem. You will get 20 points for every 100m distance you cover (200 points per 1 km).

You can also receive points for walking or running activities completed with a GPS supported device. Be sure to sync your device with the District app before starting. Any activities completed before syncing will not be counted.

What are the different checkpoint types?

You will see two different checkpoint types in Explore mode:

Green (Checkpoint): Run through the location to collect the points. Green checkpoints are worth 100 points.

Pink (Boost): These give you double points for a 3-minute time period. Double points will apply to both checkpoints collected and distance covered during that time.

Yellow (Quiz): Collect this checkpoint and you will be given a multiple choice quiz question. Score 300 points for the correct answer.

What if there is an issue with a checkpoint?

If you are having issue with a checkpoint, relating to it being inaccessible via construction or any other reason, you can click on the checkpoint in the District App and report it to us. Don't worry, keep moving onto the next checkpoint and keep going!

You can also reach out to us at explore@districtrace.com, let us know the issue you are having, and we will fix it ASAP.

Do my points collected before the event starts count towards the overall leaderboard?

No, only points scored between 18th October and 7th November 2021 will count towards the overall Mission leaderboard for the event.

How do participants track their progress during the race?

Participants can track their individual and team progress at any time by checking the leaderboard in the District Race Malaysia by AIA Vitality Mission. Go to the Mission details page and then select Leaderboard.

What is the age limit?

The event is open to participants aged 12 and above.

Participants must be aged 16 and above to be eligible for prizes.

For safety reasons, each participant under the age of 16 must only participate when accompanied by an adult. The age of the participants is based on the date of activity.

Do I need my phone to score points?

No, if you have one of our GPS supported wearable devices, you can link that to the District app and your activities will automatically be added into the app. You will receive 20 points for every 100m you complete.

Be sure to link your wearable device to the app BEFORE going out for an activity. Activities completed before linking will not be synced to the app.

Is there a minimum distance to save an activity?

Yes, you must travel at least 500m to save your in-app activity and have it contribute to your score on the leaderboard.

What type of wearable devices are supported?

GPS-tracking wearable devices from the below partners are supported for uploading walking or running activities with District:

  • Garmin
  • Apple Health
  • Fitbit
  • Polar
Why has my wearable activity not uploaded to the app yet?

Once your wearable device is linked to your profile, your walking and running activities (with GPS data) will upload to the District app and be added to your feed.

Note that there can be a delay with the wearables platform, and these sometimes take time to be sent to, and display in, the District app. Please allow up to 1 hour for your activity to sync with District. If it is still not showing up, you can reach out to us at explore@districtrace.com

Can I track an activity in the app and on my wearable device at the same time?

Yes you can, but you will only receive points for 1 of the activities. If you track with multiple devices, you will not receive double points for the same distance.

If you have an activity tracked both in the app and on a wearable at the same time, with no checkpoints collected, we will prioritize the wearable activity.

If you have an activity tracked both in the app and on a wearable at the same time, with checkpoints collected, we will prioritize the in-app activity (as you had an opportunity to gain more points).

What type of phone do I need to use District?

District is currently only available in the App Store and Google Play stores. Participants with a new Huawei phone will not be able to participate.

Minimum phone and OS requirements to use District are:

  • Android: >= 7
  • iOS >=12

While District will work on devices above these requirements, we recommend using a handset model no older than 3 years for the best experience.

Does District work on Huawei devices?

If you have an earlier Huawei device that still has access to the Google Play Store, you may be able to download the District app.

Please note that some newly released Huawei phones can't use Google services, which includes Google maps. This could cause the maps in the District app to have issues with rendering and have a negative impact on your experience. This applies to the below devices, and possibly others:

  • The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro
  • Mate 40 series
  • Mate 30 series
  • Mate Xs
  • Honor 30 series
My app crashed / my app is frozen. What should I do?

First, try closing out of your app and restarting. This should take you back to the map view, or back into your current Challenge.

If you are still having issues, uninstall the app, and reinstall the latest version of the app directly from the app store.

What happens if people are cheating?

Any irregularities with a participant's activities will be investigated. If that participant is assumed to be cheating or gaining an unfair advantage in any way, they will be disqualified immediately and removed from winning any prizes. This decision by District will be final and no appeals will be entertained. Play fair.
